RSP
Every time a train arrives safely at its destination, there’s a huge amount of engineering working behind the scenes.
Rail Signalling & Power (RSP) designs and manufactures the equipment that helps Britain’s railways run safely and reliably. From its base in Saltash, just across the Tamar from Plymouth, the team creates everything from electrical control panels to trackside buildings that protect the technology keeping trains moving.
Working with Network Rail and rail companies across the UK, RSP designs, builds and tests its products before they are installed on railways across the country. It’s engineering that millions of people rely on every day, even if they never see it.
Making railway equipment takes lots of different skills.
Our teams include:
- Mechanical engineers
- Electrical engineers
- CAD designers
- Fabricators
- Welders
- Electricians
- Assembly technicians
- Test engineers
- Project managers
People work together to design new products, build them, test them and make sure they’re ready to be used on the railway.
No two projects are exactly the same, which means there’s always a new engineering challenge to solve.
Did you know?
Every train journey depends on thousands of pieces of equipment working perfectly.
RSP products help keep passengers safe, reduce delays and make Britain's railway more reliable.
Although most people do not notice this equipment beside the tracks as the technology is hidden inside a cabinet or building beside the railway, RSP products are doing an incredibly important job every second of the day.
