Bandvulc Tyres
Bandvulc (part of the Continental Group) takes worn-out truck tyres (known as ‘casings’) so they can be retreaded for reuse. The tyres look brand new once they have undergone the process. Each tyre that Bandvulc retreads saves 80% of the materials required to manufacture a new tyre, therefore significantly reducing impact on the environment.
Bandvulc is one of the largest retreading organisations in Europe and deals with all the major logistics companies as well as most of the major supermarket chains.
Bandvulc needs skilled employees in a variety of speciality areas, which include;
- Rubber Technology at BVMixing – this is where the company makes their own tyre compounds
- Manufacturing Engineering – Bandvulc have designed and built much of their own equipment including robotics
- Software Developers – the in-house team have built their own bespoke software for the fleets servicing operation and manufacturing/maintenance processes.
- Apprenticeships: usually 2 recruited annually.
- Work Experience Placements possible.
Did you know?
Bandvulc's ability to recycle truck tyres is kinder to the environment than manufacturing tyres from new.
Each time a truck tyre is retreaded, it saves 68 litres of oil, 30kg of rubber, 20kg of steel and 60kg of CO2.
Many quality truck tyres can be retreaded more than once, which means the total life expectancy of one tyre could be over 375,000 miles – that's 15 times round the world!
Over 70% of all UK grocery deliveries are made on Bandvulc tyres.
