People have samples of their blood taken at their local doctor’s surgery or hospital to check their state of health. For example, from these blood samples, doctors can see if a person has an infection or how well some of their body’s organs (such as kidneys and liver) are working.

BD makes sterile, coloured tubes with different additives inside so that doctors can measure the types of things mentioned above. After a blood test, a doctor will have a better idea of what is going on inside a person’s body and work out the best way to treat them.
